Taking Kindness into the REAL World

Random Acts of Kindness Week begins
on Monday, February 11th.
Loon Lake students and staff are gearing up for a school wide Pay It
Forward project!
On Friday, February 8th, the student
body will attend an assembly to kick off the Pay It Forward projects. Students hear a poem called “Drop a Pebble”
that explains how our words and actions ripple through this world. Thus when we
are mean and nasty, we have an effect on others, and when we are kind and
caring we have an effect on others.
During the assembly, students from 4th
and 5th grade will role play how Pay It Forward works, and share 12
random acts of kindness ideas. We will close with a video short inspiring the
students and staff to be their “awesome” selves!
On Monday, February 11th each Loon
Lake person will receive one Pay It Forward card. Each person will be encouraged to complete
one random act of kindness for another person during the week February 11-17th.
The kindness may not be completed in Loon Lake as we are hoping to touch many
others in our community, state, country or world!
After completing a kind deed, the Pay It Forward
card will be given to the RECIPIENT of the kindness. The card asks the
recipient to notify the school letting telling about the kindness s/he
received. In addition, the card also
asks that the Pay It Forward chain continue.
Back at Loon Lake, we will be tracking any responses
we get on the large bulletin board at the end of the entrance hallway. Although
our true intent to brighten the day of one person (multiplied by the number of
staff and students in our school), it will be exciting to read any responses we
may receive!
